SAFARI MERZOUGA (itinerary of 5 days)

Safari Merzouga is a sample five days itinerary. That combines within it just a few of the many choices open to you in the Moroccan Sahara Desert, that Ali knows so well. That is not just one itinerary, but five and even more. Hopefully, I will give you an idea of just how much you can enjoy, however how many days you want to spend, exploring the Sahara and discovering the nomad people in accordance following nature’s rhythms and of course the camels.

 

Trip Description

 

   SAFARI MERZOUGA (itinerary of 5 days).

 

-Day; 01 : Marrakech / Kasbah ait ben haddou /Gorge Dades.

 

After meeting you at your hotel in Marrakech after breakfast we will go towards the High

Atlas through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, along a road that climbs from the plains up to 2260 m

above sea level passing through small villages, small waterfalls, through the continuously

changing landscape and colors of these beautiful mountains.

We can to make a stop on the pass for a cup of refreshing mint tea and admire the scenery

before taking the road to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, where we will arrive in time for lunch.

Here we can visit the famous Kasbah, declared UNESCO World Heritage and which was the

scene of films like The Gladiator, Babel, Lawrence of Arabia, The Legionary, The Sheltering

Sky, and many others. will visit the town of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas

Studios movie studios, the largest and most famous of all Africa.Then we will go through

Ouarzazate, the famous Valley of Roses and the Dades valley, reaching the Dades Gorge in

time for sunset where we will stop in a very traditional and romantic hotel for dinner and

overnight . ( H/B ).

 

  • Day ; 02  : Gorge Dades / Gorge Todra /Merzouga.

In the morning, after breakfast, you may take a walk through the Dades Gorges, and then take the car to drive the road of the 1000 Kasbas, go through Tineghier village , and the Jewish Kasbah, arriving to the Todra Gorges in time for lunch, take a walk in the Gorges before taking the road to the Merzouga desert by way of Erfoud , we reach merzouga before the sunset. From here we will leave our car in a hotel and we will start off by Camel into the Erg Chebbi Dunes for an incredible and unforgettable night in a Berber tent where we will have  dinner accompanied by the rhythm of drums and songs of Berbers, Touaregs and of the  populations of southern Morocco under millions of stars and if we are lucky you can also see  the Milky Way. Diner and over night in the berber tent . (H/B ).

 

  • Day ; 03 ; Merzouga :Nomads / Khamlia / Merzouga .

After breakfast, you can relax in the hotel swimming pool. Then take a jeep for a tour of approximately 3 hours and 1/2 in the Desert to see the different faces of Desert Dunes with its black volcanic rocks, passing through small villages, oasis, Lake. We will stop to listen to  Saharan Drums in el Khamila, we will visit the Berber family in their tent for a mint tea. Along the road used by the Paris Dakar Rallye. We will reach a cave to discover how the local people extract the fossils from the heart of the earth. In the afternoon we will return to the hotel to relax in the pool, dine and listen to local music. Or walk through the Dunes to listen to the silence and watch the stars.

 

 

 –  Day : 04 : Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Nkob – Agdaz.

We will wake up early to watch the beautiful sunrise and climb the dunes, then ride the

camels back to the hotel where you will have breakfast and freshen up. We continue our

journey to Ouarzazate via Rissani where you will stop for a while to visit its traditional Souk;

which is considered the biggest in Morocco, and continue towards the beautiful Draa Valley

with its millions of palm trees. In the afternoon we will arrive in Ouarzazate.

 

 –  Day ; 05 : Agdaz /Ouarzazate  / Ksar Ait Benhaddou /Marrakech

We will start the last day of our trip after breakfast. Leaving the southern deserts and palm

groves, valleys and oases, we start back across the High Atlas and stop for a visit of the

heritage site of Ait Benhaddou to see a Kasbah where many movies have been filmed, some

you may know are Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven and The Gladiator. This was an

important trading region and is still used as part of the caravan route to transport salt from

nearby saltpans. We continue crossing the mountains and finally descend to the red plains and

Marrakech city.

how many days you have to spend in your trip, and what do you want to see in Morocco.
